My name is Rachel...
No, really, it is. And that's what got me into Animorphs in the first place, was the fact that there was this blonde bombshell named Rachel as one of the main characters. I'm blonde. Ish. I'm not exactly a "bombshell" as it were, and I'm not tall either. Although, at 13, I was planning on being. But I related to Rachel anyway. I was Xena Warrior Princess. I was badass. I wasn't afraid.
It wasn't just Rachel, though. I related to Cassie, the treehugger, which was one of my nicknames in high school (it was supposed to be derogatory, but I actually liked it). I related to Marco, the jokester, as I grew up in a household full of comedians (literally -- my mom and dad were both regulars at a comedy club for some time), I ended up being a bit of a class clown myself. I related to Jake, the leader, as I was one myself born and bread -- I plan on being a teacher one day. I was Tobias, the loner, not many friends in high school, but that's okay, it helped me become who I was. I was Ax, the weird one. Meet me and you'll know that.
But above all, I'm Rachel, and this is my Animorphs journal. I'm now leading a year-plus long discussion on the Animorphs books over at
morphz, join us if you want to. Reflections on my reading will go here, otherwise, refer to my personal journal
spychicr for other ramblings.
